WAHPETON, N.D. – Friends and classmates have come together to remember 18-year-old Nathan Gossett who died Monday in his dorm at North Dakota State College of Science.
Gossett, of Enderlin, N.D., was a first-year student in the auto body repair and refinishing program. His cause of death is unknown, but college spokeswoman Barbara Spaeth-Baum said foul play is not suspected.
Over 150 cars and trucks gathered Monday night for a memorial ride doing what Gossett loved.
Gossett’s NDSCS classmate Dominick Franchino helped map out their route and lead the pack, twice around Wahpeton, before the convoy gathered at Walmart.
“There was a lot of people laughing, a lot of people crying,” Franchino said. “People were hand to hand, while there was somebody in the middle praying.”
Franchino said the ride was symbolic, as friends were burning rubber on their tires in Gossett’s honor.
Students estimated that over 300 people took part in the memorial ride.
