Richland 44 names new principal – the wife of Fargo’s new superintendent
COLFAX, N.D. – The wife of the Fargo School District’s new superintendent has taken a job as Richland 44 School District’s junior and senior high school principal.
Britney Gandhi’s contract was unanimously approved during a special Richland 44 School Board meeting Thursday, June 7. The board agreed to pay Gandhi $72,000 for the coming school year.
She’s the wife of Rupak Gandhi, the incoming Fargo superintendent, who starts his new role July 1.
Britney Gandhi is replacing principal Bruce Anderson, who’s retiring June 30. Anderson announced his departure along with former Superintendent Tim Godfrey and Athletic Director John Freeman in the wake of hazing and sexual assault allegations that involved male students reportedly victimizing other male students.
Following an investigation by the Richland County Sheriff’s Department earlier this year, five male students at Richland 44 were referred to juvenile court on charges of hazing, sexual assault, felonious restraint and terrorizing.
Timothy O’Keeffe, a Fargo attorney representing at least five families of victimized students, said all the offenders admitted to the charges in court. The families are pursuing all legal avenues to ensure the victimized students are safe when they return to school this fall with their offenders, O’Keeffe said.
The Gandhis recently moved to the area with their 7-month-old son. They both previously worked at school districts in Colorado Springs, Colo., where Britney Gandhi was the principal of Mountain Vista Community School.
