On Sept. 17, 2009, The West Fargo Pioneer gave a sample of a week in the life of the West Fargo Police Department. The department consisted of Chief Les Lindblad, 2 sargeants, 1 patrolman, 1 auxiliary policeman and 5 office staff. They responded to calls for 2 lost dogs, 1 lost cat, 1 broken water main, 1 stolen car, and 2 shoplifters. They apprehended a juvenile who confessed to several local break-ins and 2 armed escapees from a prison in Texas. They also led the Roundup Days Parade.

Thursday, September 17, 2009, a new event became part of Homecoming, a banquet and induction of the first members of the West Fargo High School Hall of Fame. The inductees were: Tony England, Class of 1959, who was a crew member of NASA’s STS-51F Spacelab-2 crew. John Hoganson, Class of 1966. On an expedition in Chile, he discovered the fossil of the Stenus Hoganoni beetle. As ND State Paleontologist, his findings shed light on the climate of this state in the past. Marvin Leidal, NDSU Class of 1960, began his career in education that fall teaching mathematics at WFHS. He continued with the West Fargo School District until his retirement as North Dakota Superintendent of the Year in 1998-1999.
