In 1969, L. E. Berger Middle School took time out of their morning to participate in a ceremony to recognize their new flagpole and new flags. The flagpole was provided by the Amita Club, a very active women’s service club. The state flag had belonged to former National Commander of the Disabled Veterans and the American flag had flown over the capitol in Washington, D.C. Congressman Mark Andrews made a speech and the High School band played.
The start of October 1989, saw North Dakota State Highway Department working “at full steam” to finish work on Seventh Avenue near Sixth Street. The process was complicated by the fact that they were installing underground piping when the road surface was removed which allowed access to the area below. They were confident they would have the project “realized” by the late October completion date.
