On Nov. 4, 1979, 500 Iranian students took over the U.S. Embassy in Tehran, beginning the Iran Hostage Crisis with 66 American hostages. At 7:45 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 29, A letter from President Jimmy Carter read on the radio, suggested Americans send to the Ayatollah Khomeini in Tehran. By mid-afternoon of Friday the basic message, "Let our people go, now," with 5,857 local signatures was on its way to the Ayatollah. They were released Jan. 20, 1981, 20 minutes after Ronald Reagan took the oath of office.

Before the 2009-10 school year, the West Fargo School District Transportation Department overhauled its disciplinary guidelines. In late November Transportation Director Brad Redmond reported on the results. In the past, discipline had become inconsistent, varying from driver to driver. New standards focused on consequences in the school itself (such as having to eat lunch in the principal’s office) and fewer suspensions from bus service. Compared to the same time last year incidents were down 62% or 223 less reports.
