West Fargo Public Schools will now allow two guests per student at graduation ceremonies planned this weekend.
Superintendent Beth Slette said Fargo Cass Public Health provided new guidance late Tuesday, May 26, to the school district that will allow for guests at the outdoor ceremonies. The district had previously said only students would be allowed at the ceremonies to follow recommended social distancing guidelines that are designed to slow the spread of COVID-19.
"District administration are rule followers, " Slette said Tuesday.
In a message to parents and staff, the district said guests and graduates must be mindful of social distancing, screening and masking, as well as the guidance provided through Gov. Burgum's ND Smart Restart protocols.
The graduation ceremonies will be live streamed through the district and can be found at www.westfargopioneer.com.
"Tripling the number of attendees this close to graduation will require the active participation and collaboration of all students, families, and staff to ensure these ceremonies are safe and memorable for everyone that chooses to participate," District officials said.
Later this week, the district will release specific instructions related to arrival times, check-in procedures, drop-off points, parking instructions, entrance into the stadium, and other logistical items for seniors and their families.
