FARGO — One person is dead after a fire at an apartment house in north Fargo on Thursday, Aug. 1.
Fire crews received a call just before 9:30 a.m. for a third-floor fire at 417 12th St. N., according to Fargo Fire Marshal Ryan Erickson.
Crews had the fire extinguished in about 30 minutes, the fire marshal said.
Erickson said one person was found dead and that no one else was injured. The deceased person's identity was not immediately released.
Fire officials later said all occupants of the building were displaced, though added that residents of units on the bottom level will be able to return once power and utilities are restored to the building.
While it wasn't immediately clear what type of damage that second-floor units suffered, fire officials said it was likely that units on the third floor suffered smoke damage.
Thursday's fire is the second fire in the past month in Fargo where emergency crews found a person dead. A man was found in a storage unit after a fire on July 14.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
