Fargo mayor won't endorse Heitkamp or Cramer for Senate

Tim Mahoney

FARGO — Mayor Tim Mahoney says he has no plans to endorse anyone in the November elections unlike his Grand Forks counterpart who endorsed Sen. Heidi Heitkamp, D-N.D., in her reelection bid.

"We work with both sides of the aisle, the city of Fargo," Mahoney said. "It's important we have good relationships with people."

He said he won't make the mistake made by his friend, former Fargo Mayor Dennis Walaker, who once endorsed a losing City Commission candidate, making for a difficult relationship with the candidate that ended up winning.

Grand Forks Mayor Mike Brown said Wednesday, July 11, that he endorses Heitkamp in her race against Rep. Kevin Cramer, R-N.D., despite previously voting for President Donald Trump, a Cramer ally. Brown, who is in his fifth term of office, said he preferred Heitkamp because she's been an effective independent voice.
