The West Fargo Park District has closed its facilities indefinitely in an effort to help curb the spread of COVID-19.

"Out of concern for staff and public relating to the status of the Coronavirus-19 we have closed all Park District facilities until further notice," said Barb Erbstoesser, Park District executive director in the evening of Friday, March 13. "Programs and events have also been cancelled for next week and we will be updating our website at wfparks.org daily. "

Erbstoesser said a special meeting for the Park Board will be held at 11:30 a.m., Monday, March 16 at the Rustad Recreation Center. The board will discuss its emergency management plan and additional closures.

At a special City Commission meeting held Friday, Erbstoesser said the park district was monitoring all events and facilities closely but things were changing by the minute. Most of the Park District staff would be able to work from home.

The West Fargo Park District manages the Veterans Memorial Arena as well as the multi-use Rustad Recreation Center which provides a free walking track, open gymnasiums, an indoor playground and other community rooms to the public.
