FARGO — The Cass County Sheriff's Office will host Citizens Academy classes beginning in October.
The course offers "classroom presentations and hands-on training regarding relevant law enforcement topics," a news release said.
The 11-week course will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Tuesdays beginning Oct. 20. The course is offered at no cost to participants.
The program will allow participants to gain insight into the functions and responsibilities of the office as well as "bridging the gap and fostering a relationship with our citizens," the release continued.
Participants must be citizens of Cass County or currently work in the county. Participants must also be over the age of 18 and are subject to a background check. Applications will be accepted in the order they are received, and the office will contact those who apply regarding whether or not they have been accepted.
Due to the pandemic, class sizes will be limited and precautions will be followed.
