Blizzard conditions forecast to start Thursday morning in Fargo-Moorhead area
A blizzard warning will come into effect at 6 a.m. Thursday and last until 9 p.m. Travel conditions will be difficult and hazardous, and will affect morning and evening commutes.
A winter storm warning is currently in effect for Cass, Ransom, Sargent and Richland counties in North Dakota, as well as Clay County, Minn., and will impact the cities of Moorhead, Fargo, Lisbon, Enderlin, Gwinner, Milnor, Forman, Rutland and Wahpeton.
Heavy snow and blizzard conditions are expected, with accumulations of 6 to 12 inches. Blizzard conditions are expected to start Thursday morning, when wind gusts may reach up to 40 mph. Visibility on roads is predicted to be less than a half-mile.
Separate warnings have been issued for west Otter Tail, Wilkin, and Grant County, Minn., where 5 to 8 inches of snow are expected to fall. A blizzard warning will also come into effect in these counties at 6 a.m. Thursday and last until 9 p.m.
The storm will be followed by a plunge in temperatures, with wind chills reaching the minus 35 to minus 45 range.
