Fargo, ND (WDAY News) - West Fargo's police chief is asking for more time before agreeing to resign.

Mike Reitan was placed on administrative leave last Friday.

Some employees accuse him of creating a toxic work environment.

The city gave him until today to sign a severance agreement.

The mayor says Reitan asked for an extension saying the Americans with Disabilities Act guarantees anyone over 40 at least 21 days.

Reitan now has until February 1st to decide.

The severance package offers 3 months of pay.
