Special Events

Movie of the Month — "Testament of Youth": 1 p.m. Thursday. A 2018 1 Book 1 Community event. PG-13. Free popcorn. Free admission.

Four Seasons Family Storytime: 6 p.m. Thursday. Listen to stories about fall, winter spring and summer, enjoy a treat, and make a season-themed craft project. Program is free and open to all ages. No registration is required.

WFPL3:30 p.m. — 6:30 p.m. Monday. Pop on by to the West Fargo Public Library's Pop-Up library located at the Farmers Market and Beyond. Borrow or return books, sign up for a library card, activity, or just chat. Rustad Recreation Center Parking Lot: 601 26th Ave E, West Fargo.

Lego Mania: 6:30 p.m. Monday. Build worlds with Legos. The library as a big supply of Legos for a fun night full of creative building. Program is free and open to all ages.

Author Robert Dodge presents "Tempest-Tost: The Refugee Experience through One Community's Prism": 7 p.m. Tuesday. Author Robert Dodge taught in West Fargo for 10 years, was an expatriate for 35 years, and now lives in Denver. He returns to the West Fargo community to discuss his book. Free and open to the public.

World War 1 Remembrance Posters and Henry C. Stotlar Exhibit: Sept. 10 — Dec. 31. Long-time Fargo resident and businessman Henry C. Stotlar (1891-1972) served in France during World War I. View the memorabilia that he kept along with other WWI items saved by his family. Visitors to the exhibit may also post photos, names, and/or family connections of anyone they know about who served in the war.

Regular Events

STEM Explorers: 3:30 p.m. Thursday. Explore STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) through activities, experiments, and games every Thursday afternoon when school is in session. No registration required. Supplies and a snack will be provided. Free and open to kids in grades three to eight.

Friday Morning Movie — "Dora the Explorer-Pirate Adventure": 10:30 a.m. Friday. Join us every Friday morning for a showing of a fun and family friendly movie. Free popcorn.

Genealogy: Noon to 4 p.m. Saturday. Staff Genealogist Jackie Marler will be available to help you explore your family's history. Bring your projects or just ask questions. Visit the Historical Center located on the library's main floor.

Simply Stories: 10:15 a.m. Tuesday. This session is geared for lap babies and preschoolers and is just stories — no crafts. For stories and simple make-and-take crafts, visit the library at 1:30 p.m. Tuesdays. Registration is not required.

Storytime with a Craft: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Story times are geared for preschool through first grade age children and their caretakers. Daycares are welcome, but for groups larger than five, please call ahead at (701) 433-5460. Registration is not required.

After-school Art: 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. Join us for art, crafts, and other projects every Tuesday afternoon (when school is in session). No registration required. Supplies and a snack will be provided. Free and open to kids in grades K-8.

Twisted Stitchers: 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.An evening of knitting or crochet. Come with your own supplies. Not for beginners, but tips will be given to knitters and crocheters needing help. No pre-registration required.

The Next Chapter Book Club — Daytime: 1 p.m. Wednesday. Discussion of the 2018 1 Book 1 Community read "The Cartographer of No Man's " by P.S. Duffy. Free and open to all adults. Check the library's catalog or area libraries for an available copy.

Lego and Game Club: 4 p.m. Wednesday. Stop in every Wednesday afternoon (when school is in session) for Legos and board games. No registration required. Open to kids in grades K-8.

Technology Tutoring: 4-5 p.m. Wednesday. Drop in for a one-on-one tutoring session to get help with technology questions and build skills. Bring your own device or use one of the library's iPads or computers. All ages are welcome and no registration is needed.

Ham Radio Operators: 7 p.m. Wednesday. Open to all adults and children (with attending adult) who want to learn more about ham radio operation. For more information, contact Bob Kirkeby at 701-541-3411.

Upcoming Events

War Horse Family Book Discussion and Film Screening: 1:30 p.m. Sept. 23. A 2018 1 Book 1 Community Family Event. Parents and their children/teens will discuss "War Horse" by Michael Morpurgo and view the movie based on the book. Also open to interested adults. Copies of the book and discussion questions available at the library's service desk. Books are also available in area libraries and bookstores. Movie rated PG-13.


The library is closed on Saturday, Sept. 15, for West Fest. On Sept. 9 it returns to winter hours and is open Sundays.
