In November of 1988 the front page of the Pioneer featured a photo of Fred Selberg, chairman of the Water Resource District, signing a contract calling for the state to commit $2 million to the West Fargo Riverside Diversion with Mayor Florenz Bjornson smiling over his shoulder. It was the last contractual piece of the process needed for construction on the Sheyenne Diversion.
In early November 1993 the Post Office opened its new facility at 415 East Main. The 10,800 square foot building was over three times as large as the previous Post Office on Sheyenne plus a 4,300 square foot garage with docks to accommodate various sizes of trucks. The building was also designed with future expansion in mind.
