Packer boys top Legacy, take fifth at state
BISMARCK —Behind a Luke Lennon 27-point, 11-rebound double-double, West Fargo capped the season with an 89-69 win over Bismarck Legacy in the fifth-place game of the Class A Boys Basketball State Tournament Saturday.
Lennon went 9-of-14 from the field and a perfect 9-of-9 from the line, while helping the Packers hold a 41-27 rebounding edge. The performance capped an excellent season that ended with him earning Senior Athlete of the Year honors Saturday night.
He wasn't the only source of offense, as four other Packers scored in double figures. Matt Miller scored 17, Hunter Lyman had 15, Carson Hegerle 14 and Carter Birrenkott 10.
Saturday was the second straight 20-plus point win for West Fargo, which responded well following a disappointing 78-61 loss to Bismarck Century in the state opener Friday.
The Packers, who have won at least 20 games in each of the last five seasons, finish the year 21-6.
