Legacy tops Sheyenne girls in third place game
BISMARCK — Held scoreless for the first 6 minutes, 44 seconds of the game, West Fargo Sheyenne couldn't play catch-up in a 53-41 loss to Bismarck Legacy in the third-place game of the Class A Girls Basketball State Finals Saturday.
For the third consecutive day, the Mustangs came out sluggish offensively. They didn't crack the scoreboard until a Maggie Manson 3-pointer with 11:16 to play in the first half, and soon found themselves facing a 16-3 deficit. Sheyenne shot just 14-of-54 (26 percent) for the game.
Yasmina Dokara had 10 points to lead Sheyenne, while fellow seniors Manson and Shelby Weber added eight.
Sheyenne, which reached the state semifinals for the first time in program history, finish the season 18-9.
