On Friday, March 13, due to the status of the coronavirus, the West Fargo Park District announced its decision to close the Rustad Recreation Center, the Veterans Memorial Arena and activity centers until further notice as well as to also to suspend all on-site and off-site programming, events and rentals effective immediately.

Over the past several weeks the West Fargo Park District has been alert and diligent to the concerns of the coronavirus illness outbreak and spread as the safety, well being and health of our employees and public remains a top priority. Earlier that day, the COVID- 19 status level elevated and the President of the U.S., declared a National State of Emergency and Governor of North Dakota issued a State of Emergency regarding coronavirus, which has reached pandemic levels around the globe.

At the West Fargo Park District we realize the importance and respect the significance of joining efforts with our community, state, country and world to make informed, intelligent and determined efforts to fight the spread of COVID-19.

It is my first hand observation that the West Fargo Park District, the West Fargo School District and the City of West Fargo are unified in their efforts to do their part to protect the citizens of our community.

The Park District is empathetic to those who are disheartened or frustrated regarding the closing of facilities and the interruptions of activities, however we value and trust the knowledge and advice of the public health officials approach to aggressively implement social distancing measures.
