WATERTOWN, S.D — In a pair of games, the West Fargo Patriots Post 308 American Legion baseball team lost a tight first game 2-1, then exploded to a 12-0 win over Watertown on Tuesday night.

Carter Dodd had the lone hit for Post 308, as Watertown scored the go-ahead run in the fifth inning to secure the win in Game 1. Dustin Mertz pitched six innings for West Fargo, striking out seven.

Mertz registered two hits and four RBIs in the second game, while Lance Oster had two hits and two RBIs. The Patriots totaled 10 hits as a team and scored five runs in both the fifth and sixth innings.

West Fargo (14-9) will host Fargo Post 2 at 6 p.m. Friday, July 5.
