Key returners: Maggie Manson, Sr., G; Yasmina Dokara, Sr., F; Shelby Weber, Sr., G.
Coach's comments: "We are excited to get the new season started. We have a good mix of experienced players and some young players who will be getting their first taste of consistent varsity playing time. As this group of players gets an opportunity to play together and develop as a team, it will be exciting to see what they can accomplish."
Coach: Tom Critchley (seventh season)
Last season: 22-5
Who's gone: Natalie Steichen, Rae Critchley and Grace Steichen.
Key returners: Allie Critchley, Sr., PG (all-conference); Katlyn Brenna, Sr., G (all-conference); Maria Watt, So., F; Peyton Wilson, Jr., F; Jocy Cyr, Sr., F; Olivia Feigum, Jr., F.
Coach's comments: "We return two excellent guards in Allie Critchley and Katlyn Brenna, who we are expecting to have big seasons and help take some of the pressure off our younger girls. We will have more size than we have had in the past, but plan on still playing at the same speed. We are excited for our younger girls and are hoping that a couple of them are looking to take that next step forward at the varsity level. This is a hardworking and very coachable group, which is always a good place to start."
Coach: Jed Carlson (eighth season)
Last season: 18-10
Who's gone: Sam Haiby.
Key returners: Megan Haugo, Jr., PG; Rylie Polomny, Jr., G; Ayana Blythe, Jr., F; Jalen Ennen, Jr., F; Sam Hulst, Jr., G; Brook Carney, Sr., C; Samantha Zimmerman, So., F.
Coach's comments: "We expect to compete with the top teams in our section, but we'll need to become a more complete team to do so. We will focus on becoming a better defensive team, playing more physical and finishing possessions by attacking the glass. This team returns a core group of players with experience, and we are an improved offensive team. We play a fast-paced and unselfish brand of basketball on both ends of the floor. We have team speed and athleticism and will try to become a team that plays for each other."
Moorhead Park Christian
Coach: Kurt Motschenbacher (third season)
Last season: 23-5
Who's gone: Ingrid Swanson and Allyson Kangas.
Key returners: Karley Motschenbacher, Jr., PG; Ashley Hanson, Jr., G; Anika Carlson, Sr., F; Molly Metzger, Sr., F; Kylee Invie, Sr., C; Hannah Hansen, Sr., G; Eden Tofibam, So., F.
Coach's comments: "Despite the loss of two key players to graduation, we still have a very experienced core group of girls returning. Expectations will be high for another successful season again this year. For that to happen we will depend on a few girls, who previously held supportive defensive roles, to transition into key players on the offensive end."
Coach: Tim Jacobson (third season)
Last season: 23-4, fifth in the state

Key returners: Alyssa Paper, Sr., F (all-conference); Julia Schock, Sr., G; Taylor Fey, So., F; Ryleigh Wacha, So., G; Brooklyn Koenig, So., G.
Coach's comments: "We are excited about the upcoming season. We have a lot of new faces, so it will take us some time to put everything together. We lost a key player to a knee injury, Lexi Similie-Askew, and we'll need to find players to replace her. Our emphasis will be on our defense."
Coach: Brian Kaluza (first season)
Last season: 10-15
Who's gone: Mary Sem, Anna Astrup, Elise Bakke, Kendall Faulkner, Abby Naseth, Hallie Mann, Sophie Semanko and Remi Vannett.
Key returners: Maddy England, Sr., G; Jennie Sem, Jr., F; Lexi Smith, Sr., G.
Coach's comments: "We have a group of energetic and enthusiastic girls leading our program. Although we may lack some varsity experience, we do have a core group of seniors that are eager to leave their mark on Fargo North basketball. The EDC will have some great teams this year, and our girls are embracing the challenges that lie ahead of us."
Coach: Jason Smedshammer (eighth season)
Last season: 3-19
Who's gone: Anna Brakke and Emmerie Beyer.
Key returners: Brynn Nelson, Fr., G; Adie Wagner, Fr., G; Maggie Boese, So., F/C; Alice Carlson, So., G; Sami Hoselton, So., G/F; Paige Schroeder, So., F/C; Mesaged Abakar, Jr., F/C; Briana Moore, Jr., F; Raechel Osborn, Jr., G/F.
Coach's comments: "We have a number of players with a lot of varsity experience back, despite still being overall a pretty young team. Adie Wagner, who has been a starter and our leading scorer since her seventh-grade season has probably played the most varsity minutes, but we have six to eight players who have all started games for us at different times over the last two seasons. Plus, we’re getting back a player who missed all of last year with an injury, so we expect to get contributions from everyone as we grow into our season. The players have definitely weathered some rough patches, as they have learned about varsity basketball, but they have great attitudes and work ethic and are poised to take the next step forward this season. We hope to be playing our best ball as we get to the postseason and hopefully can be in the mix in March."
Fargo Oak Grove
Coach: Mike Forsberg (sixth season)
Last season: 15-9
Who's gone: Brooke Peterson, Madeline Nelson, Julia Bogart and Lauren Forness.
Key returners: Amanda Roller, Sr., G; Morgan Niemiller, Jr., G; Isabel Anderson, Fr., G; Kelyn Johnson, Sr., F; Jaycie Gunderson, Sr., F.
Coach's comments: "Looks to be a balanced region this year, especially in the middle of the pack. Several teams return a lot of players from last year and this will make for a lot of interesting region games. I would tab Kindred as a favorite. We will have to get a lot of playing time out of our returners until we get our younger players worked into and comfortable with their roles. Keys for us will be defense, rebounding and shooting the ball with more consistency."
Coach: Steve Jacobson (third season)

Key returners: Reile Payne, Jr., G/F; Hadley Huber, Jr., G; Kate Busek, So., G; Natalie Heinrich, Sr., G; Olivia Manuel, Jr., G; Kelly Christmann, Jr., F; Moriku Hakeem, So., C.
Coach's comments: "Very young team, but have the potential to be very good. Team attitude and work ethic is very good and have very good team bonding. Should be a very fun team to watch every night."
Coach: Michael Benson (second season)
Last season: 8-16
Who's gone: Laura Limke, Morgan Foss, Mady Nelson and Madi Pearson.
Key returners: Abby Donarski, Sr., G; Callyn Johnson, Sr., G; Courtney Boll, Sr., F; Grace Faiman, Sr., G; Lauren Diemert, Sr., G; Mariah Schatz, Sr., F; Taylor Giesen, Sr., F; McKenna Becher, Jr., G; Mariah Peters, Jr., F; Brynn Giesen, So., G.
