McFeely: Moorhead hardware store owner loving his part-time job in Fort Myers

FORT MYERS, Fla. — The man standing outside the elevator at Hammond Stadium, spring training home of the Minnesota Twins, smiles a lot. Laughs, too. And why wouldn’t he? Dick Popp might have the best part-time job of anybody who lives in Moorhead.

“To me it is. It’s perfect,” he said Saturday before the Twins played the Toronto Blue Jays on a sunny, if breezy, 77-degree day on Florida’s southwest coast. “I’m a baseball nut, I’m around people and get to chat with them and I get to see some of the game."
