SAN FRANCISCO - West Fargo native Matt Strahm will make his major league starting debut Thursday night in Anaheim for the Kansas City Royals.

Strahm, in his first full season in the majors with the Royals has been exclusively used out of the bullpen since his call-up to the big leagues last July.

The Royals rotation has been beset by injuries, leading Kansas City manager Ned Yost to turn to Strahm.

Strahm was a starting pitcher in the minor leagues and during his college career.

Strahm made the Royals roster out of spring training, but had a dreadful start and was sent to the minor leagues.

He had a dominant month of May, pitching 13 innings and striking out 16 batters, allowing just three runs.

The Royals and Angels will begin at 9:05 central time Thursday night.
