Fargo Little League team advances to Midwest Regional championship with shutout victory over Minnesota

WESTFIELD, Ind. — Jordan Leininger struck out 12 and didn’t walk a batter and Fargo is one win away from the Little League World Series after defeating Coon Rapids, Minn., 6-0 Wednesday morning in the Midwest Regional. Fargo is off until the title game Saturday morning at 10 a.m. CST.

Fargo scored three runs in the second and with Leininger in control put it out of reach with three more in the fifth. Landon Meier’s two-run single was the big hit.

Leininger, Andrew Kankelfritz and Charlie Kalbrener had two hits each to lead Fargo. Leininger, Kankelfritz and Ethan Welk also had RBIs.


The winner of Saturday’s game will move on to play in the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa., which runs from Aug. 16-26.

Team North Dakota is compiled of a collection of all-stars from Fargo’s Little League program. Team Minnesota was compiled of Little League players from Andover and Coon Rapids.
