Mustangs rout Legacy 47-7
West Fargo Sheyenne rushed for 325 yards, bouncing back from a disappointing week one loss with a 47-7 blowout win over Bismarck Legacy in its home opener Friday night.
Nathan Goldade gained 131 yards and scored a pair of touchdowns, while Hunter Hoffner added 90 and another score for the Mustangs, who scored on their first five possessions.
Quarterback Parker Sander was also highly effective, completing all five of his pass attempts for 95 yards, highlighted by spectacular touchdown catches by Tyler Terhark and Caden Jastram.
Terhark came back and caught an underthrown pass through contact from 29 yards out on the Mustangs' second series, while Jastram pulled a ball off the helmet of a Saber defender for a 20-yard score on the next drive.
A week after surrendering 246 rushing yards in an overtime loss to top-ranked Bismarck Century, the Mustang defense held the Sabres to just four yards for the game and negative-11 in the first half, helping them race out to a 27-0 halftime lead.
Special teams made its presence felt as well, scoring a fourth quarter touchdown when Zach Rodgers blocked a punt that Matt Wegner recovered in the end zone.
