Packers capture first EDC win
GRAND FORKS — Declan Genova scored three touchdowns in the fourth quarter, and West Fargo earned its first Eastern Dakota Conference win of the season, 32-13 at Grand Forks Central Thursday.
Genova was the star of a sloppy, turnover-filled game, finishing with 188 yards, and leading the Packers, who trailed 13-12 after three quarters, to a 20-0 advantage in the fourth.
Cooper Sahli threw for 96 yards and a touchdown to Marcus Gulley. Dustin Mertz also had a touchdown pass, connecting with Luke Lennon from 15 yards out.
The win moved West Fargo to 2-6 overall, 1-5 in conference play.
Already eliminated from the state tournament, the Packers conclude the 2018 season Wednesday, with a 7 p.m. home game against postseason qualifier Fargo Davies.
