West Fargo 35, Grand Forks Central 13
GRAND FORKS — A 28-point second quarter lifted the Packers to a road win over Grand Forks Central on Friday in Eastern Dakota Conference action.
West Fargo quarterback Dustin Mertz completed 4 of 6 passes for 107 yards and two touchdowns, adding 34 rushing yards and a TD on two attempts. Junior Gbaley had three carries for 67 yards and a score. Receiver Carson Hegerle hauled in three receptions for 99 yards and two touchdowns.
The Packers defense forced three interceptions. Marcus Gulley had 6 1/2 tackles to lead the way. KC Ortiz had five tackles, including three for a loss and a sack.
West Fargo rose to 5-4 overall and 5-2 in the EDC. The Knights dropped to 0-9 overall and 0-7 in conference play.
Fargo North 13, Grand Forks Red River 0
FARGO — North scored all of its points in the second half en route to a shutout win over Red River.
Peyton Fisher paced the North offense with 115 rushing yards and a touchdown on 10 attempts. Daniel Boutain had 22 carries for 104 yards and a TD. As a team, North had 293 rushing yards.
The Spartans defense stifled the Roughriders, holding Red River to 135 yards of offense. Junior Surpris had five tackles, including two for a loss and a sack to pace North.
The Spartans improved to 2-7 overall and 2-5 in the EDC. Red River fell to 2-7 overall and 1-6 in conference play.
