West Fargo 5, Fargo North 2
FARGO — Five different Packers scored to lift West Fargo to an East Region boys hockey win over North in the season opener Tuesday night in North Dakota boys East Region hockey.
Owen Bartz struck first to put North up 1-0 in the opening period, but West Fargo scored the next five goals.
Devan Wolf, Caleb Roehrich, Tanner Gourde, Tanner Nelson and Coleton Bossert each found the back of the net for the Packers (1-0). West Fargo goalie Gabe Pederson tallied 34 saves.
Caleb Fritel added the second goal for the Spartans (0-1). Goalie Jess Stahl made 42 saves.
Grand Forks Central 4, Fargo South-Shanley 1
GRAND FORKS — Three unanswered goals in the third period boosted Central to victory over Fargo South-Shanley on Tuesday night in North Dakota East Region boys hockey.
Senior William Lawson-Body scored the opening goal, but FSS countered in the second period with Grant Gores’ score.
Braden Panzer, Zach Larson and Chase Spicer each scored in the third period to seal the win for the Knights. Central outshot FSS 37-16.
Central rose to 1-0, while FSS fell to 0-1.
Fargo North-South 7, Mandan 0
MANDAN, N.D. — Jerica Friese recorded a hat trick to lead North-South to a shutout win over Mandan in North Dakota girls hockey.
Evelyn Olson added two goals, and Julia Puhl and Rylee Bartz each added a goal. Goalie Alex Kinney recorded 16 saves for the shutout.
North-South starts the season 1-0, while Mandan is 0-1.
West Fargo United 3, Devils Lake 1
DEVILS LAKE, N.D. — West Fargo United picked up a road win over Devils Lake.
Jocelyn Hareland opened the scoring for United off an assist from Alyssa Smith. Peyton Hareland doubled the lead with an unassisted tally.
Ashlyn Abrahamson scored for the Firebirds, but an empty net goal from Madison Schoenberg sealed the win for United.
United goalie Maddy Buckert made 24 saves.
United moved to 1-0 on the season. Devils Lake dropped to 0-1.
Fargo Davies 2, Grand Forks 1
FARGO — Davies narrowly defeated Grand Forks Tuesday night in girls hockey at the Scheels Arena.
Emme Schmidt gave the Eagles the lead early in the second period, but the KnightRiders tied the score with a power-play goal from Kylie Autrey. Olivia Opheim restored the Davies advantage in the third period.
Davies goalie Kennedy Cook tallied 15 saves. The Eagles outshot Grand Forks 36-16.
Davies climbed to 1-0 on the season. Grand Forks fell to 0-1.
Moorhead 7, East Grand Forks 6
EAST GRAND FORKS, Minn. — The Spuds battled back to down East Grand Forks in Minnesota girls hockey.
Moorhead trailed 6-3 heading into the final period, but the Spuds netted four goals, capped by Hailey Hedlund’s game-winner with under seven minutes to play. Hedlund, Madalyn Spaeth and Brianna Krejci each scored twice for the Spuds.
Moorhead rose to 2-3 on the season. East Grand Forks dropped to 2-3.
