The West Fargo Packers boys swimming and diving team placed third with 364 points at the Thomas Manley Memorial Invitational hosted by Fargo South-Shanley at the Fargo Davies pool on Saturday, Jan. 11.
The Sheyenne Mustangs swam to a fifth-place team finish at the meet with a score of 274.
Bismarck Century clinched the invitational with a score of 532, and Fargo Davies nabbed the second-place spot with 448 points.
The Packers clinched two events and finished in the top three in four of 12 events at the invitational. The Mustangs grabbed two second-place finishes at Saturday’s meet.
West Fargo’s Timothy Hulbert swam to first place in the 50 free with a swim of 22.61 seconds. He also nabbed second place in the 100 butterfly with a time of 58.07 seconds.
Max Wohl clinched the 100-yard freestyle in 53.99 seconds for the third-place Packers. The Packers relay team of Hulbert, Wohl, Riley Hjelden and Thomas Doyel recorded a third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:34.86).
Hjelden also placed second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:02.02.
Hulbert, Wohl, Kasey Chase and Noah Jamison came in .41 seconds after first-place Bismarck Century (3:27.44) to add a second-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay for West Fargo (3:27.85).
Sheyenne’s Vaughn Raimo placed second in the 200-yard individual medley with a swim of 2:08.40.
Raimo got on the board again in the 200 medley relay, swimming to second place in 1 minute, 47.42 seconds with his relay team of Nick Benson, Zack May and Tanner Haag.
Mandan punched in a fourth-place finish at the invite (313). Fargo South placed sixth with a score of 249, and Bismarck High took seventh with 142 points.
The Mustangs compete in a dual against the Grand Forks KnightRiders at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, at Grand Forks Central High School. The Packers next compete in an invitational on Friday, Jan. 24-25 at Minot High School.
