AUSTIN, Texas — North Dakota State freshman thrower Akealy Moton set a school record in the shot put Thursday at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships.

The West Fargo graduate's record-setting mark of 57 feet, 3 1/2 inches was good for fifth place and first-team, All-America honors. She tied for the second-highest NCAA outdoor finish ever by a Bison woman. Moton will compete in the javelin at 2:30 p.m. Friday.

NDSU junior thrower Bailey Retzlaff notched the best hammer throw of her career Thursday. Her mark of 209 feet, 7 inches was good for 14th place and second-team, All-America honors. Retzlaff moved to third all-time at NDSU in the event.
