West Fargo's Franek breaks wins record

Jared Franek ended his wrestling career with 268 wins, surpassing former West Fargo Packers teammate Jordan Shearer's 259 for the all-time career wrestling wins record in North Dakota. The North Dakota State commit finished 54-1 in his final prep season and won his fourth state championship.

H-CV boys basketball does it again

Kyle Henningsgard hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to clinch the Class B boys basketball state title for H-CV in 2017. This season it was Ryan Troftgruben's turn. The senior hit a 3-pointer with three seconds remaining in overtime to give The Burros a 73-71 win over Bishop Ryan.

Fargo Davies, H-CV running to titles

The Fargo Davies girls track and field team won its third straight Class A title, scoring the most points scored by a Class A girls team at the state meet with 222, 138 more than any other team. The Eagles won 11 of 19 events and took first, second and third in four events. The Davies girls cross country team also won a Class A title.

Hillsboro-Central Valley won its seventh straight Class B cross country title behind Reagan Baesler's first-place finish.

L-L-M wins third straight volleyball championship

Fargo North was the only volleyball program to ever win three straight volleyball titles. The Spartans won titles in 1994, 1995 and 1996. Bismarck Century made it three straight Class A crowns and LaMoure-Litchville-Marion won its third straight Class B title this past fall.

Hulbert Aquatic Center hosts state swimming meet

Hulbert Aquatic Center opened in West Fargo this fall and hosted its first North Dakota High School Activities Association state swimming and diving meet in March. West Fargo Sheyenne's Zack Bueling won the boys 100-yard backstroke in the home pool.

West Fargo's softball streak comes to an end

West Fargo's streak of 20 straight softball titles, the last nine coming since softball became sponsored by the NDHSAA in 2009, was snapped this season. The Packers lost in the state quarterfinals to Bismarck Century.

Central Cass wins Class B softball championship

Central Cass played in its sixth state title game in the last seven seasons, winning its third title in that span in dominating fashion. The Squirrels topped Des Lacs-Burlington 11-0 in five innings in the championship game, finishing the season with a 21-2 record.

West Fargo, W-L, H-CV win football state titles

West Fargo capped an 12-0 football season with a Class 3A title, the program's sixth. Hillsboro-Central Valley was perfect as well, going 12-0 and winning a Class 1A championship, the first football title for the co-op. Wyndmere-Lidgerwood won the Class 9-man crown behind six touchdowns from Luke Foertsch, tying a Dakota Bowl record.

Dominating wrestling season for Lisbon's Urbach

Jordan Urbach finished his senior wrestling season 42-0 with 35 pins, five forfeits, one technical fall and one major decision. Only one of his matches went a full six minutes, and he did not give up a takedown all season.

Kindred eighth-grader Carter Schmitz won a state title at 106 pounds, capping a 35-0 season. H-CV's Mark Hastings, Carrington's Kaden Wolsky and Lisbon's Jordan Sours also won Class B state titles.

Lawley, Knewtson, Gu bring home tennis titles

Fargo South's Davis Lawley completed an undefeated boys tennis season, going 23-0, 46-0 in sets and 276-4 in games. He became Fargo South's first two-time state singles champion since Blake Hankey in 1992 and 1993. He will play at the the University of Nebraska-Omaha next season.

West Fargo Sheyenne's Monti Knewtson and Mimi Gu won the doubles crown at the state girls tennis tournament. Knewtson has now won a singles title, a team title and a doubles title, as she heads into her junior season.
