WILLMAR – Two people were arrested Monday afternoon, Nov. 5, on suspicion of second-degree murder and second-degree murder -- liability for crimes of another, for the death of David Medellin Jr. who was found dead Oct. 31 in a plowed field near Willmar. County Attorney Shane Baker said in an email Tuesday that the suspects’ court appearance had not been scheduled yet, but it would be either Wednesday morning or Thursday morning.
WILLMAR, Minn. — The animal health business Epitopix of Willmar has been sold to Vaxxinova, a Netherlands-based company specializing in the industry. Epitopix is a vaccine research and development company based on the MinnWest Technology Campus in Willmar, Minn. It is owned by the Willmar Poultry group of companies. The sale was completed Wednesday, Feb 28, according to a news release from Vaxxinova.

WILLMAR, Minn. — Gov. Mark Dayton's proposal to help children and families involves a multi-agency effort to address underlying reasons for the achievement gap in Minnesota's schools. In a conference call with rural Minnesota reporters Wednesday, Dayton and some of his commissioners outlined a plan to address a variety of needs for struggling families. The proposal is part of the governor's budget proposal which will be reviewed and most likely changed by the Legislature before adjournment in May.

Annika Belle Stenglein, 16, daughter of Ray and Kim and a sophomore at Willmar Senior High School, died Monday at her home. WILLMAR—Fran Gonzalez had spent the last two days cooking in anticipation of her son's return home from Kuwait. E4 Specialist Jose Martin Gonzalez Jr. was among more than 150 members of the 682nd Engineer Battalion who returned to Willmar Saturday afternoon. Members of the unit had left Willmar in early October 2015. Yellow ribbons around trees and signposts greeted visitors on the drive up to Willmar Senior High School Saturday.
