Western State Bank rewards students for academic efforts

Western State Bank recently awarded two local students $250 savings scholarships as part of their scholastic recognition program, Western Pays for A’s. Thescholastic recognition program is designed to reward high school students for their hard work in school.

Sarah Schaeffer of West Fargo, and Brandon Bohmert of Fargo, were selected as the Western Pays for A’s $250 savings scholarships winners for the first semester of the 2012-2013 school year. “Western is proud to support the communities we serve, especially our local schools. Werecognize students for their academic efforts and support them as they prepare for their future education,” commented Brad Jacobson, Western State Bank President.

Students in grades 6-12 are encouraged to bring their report cards into Western following each quarter. Students will receive a packet of coupons or gift certificates from local businesses for having at least one “A” on their report card. The businesses participating in the program include Anytime Fitness, Cherry Berry, Cracked Pepper, Oh, Suzanne!, Sandy’s Donuts & Coffee Shop, Schumacher Goodyear, Smiling Moose Deli, Stars & Strikes Bowling, Sunmart Foods, Sweet Dreams Confections, United Automotive Tech Center and West Acres Bowl.

Each semester, Western State Bank will award two $250 savings account scholarships selected from students in grades 9-12 that have brought in their report cards. Students will receive an entry for each “A” they have earned. Each year, four students in grades 9-12 will have the opportunity to begin saving toward their college education from their dedication in high school. Students are limited to winning one scholarship per school year.
