FARGO — Grazie's Italian Restaurant & Grill, located in south Fargo's Multiband Tower, 2000 44th St. S., has closed.
Owner George Plaku said it wasn't his intent to close the business when he and his family went on vacation last month.
"We decided to take a break. It was something we had planned in advance, and we started putting one and one together..." he said. Ultimately, they decided not to reopen after returning to Fargo.
Making a go of it was difficult because of the restaurant's location, Plaku said.
"If you can't see it, you forget about it," he said. While the Multiband Tower is highly visible from 45th Street South and Interstate 94, the restaurant is located on the backside of the building and only visible from arterial streets.
Plaku operated the second adaptation of Grazie's in that location, opening the Italian restaurant again in April 2017.
He bought the restaurant that originally opened in 2002 and closed in February 2016 under the ownership of Lexstar founder Robert Leslie.
Plaku said he's not sure what the future holds for him.
"We're still around. Who knows what we'll do in the future," he said. "I've been cooking and doing business all my life. What can I say?"
