2+ inches of rain fall in Fargo-Moorhead, surrounding areas soaked too
FARGO - Rainy weather moved out of the Red River Valley this morning, leaving behind 1 to nearly 2.5 inches of precipitation in many areas and making room for sunshine today.
Hector International Airport in Fargo picked up 2.11 inches of rain from 7 a.m. Monday to 7 a.m. today, while 2.24 inches fell across the river in Moorhead, the highest 24-hour total reported to the National Weather Service as of 7:45 a.m.
Cloudy conditions will be replaced by sunshine later today, but the high is only expected to reach 60 degrees, with a brisk northwest wind.
"It's going to be a chilly one," said Pete Speicher, meteorologist at the weather service office in Grand Forks.
Wednesday's forecast calls for sunny conditions with a high near 67 and an east-northeast wind of 3 to 6 mph. The rest of the week will bring more unsettled conditions, Speicher said.
