Two 4-H members from Horace, N.D., have qualified for the organization’s state communication arts contest.

Kooper Hahn Shagena and Gracie Erickstad placed first in respective categories at the recently held district contest.

Shagena took top honors in the Preteen Interpretive Reading/Serious category.

Erickstad placed first in Preteen Demonstration/Individual.

Honorable mentions went to Katelyn Galde in Preteen Interpretive Reading/Humorous and Anna Stopleworth in Teen Prepared Speech.

The state contest will be held July 20 at the North Dakota State Fair in Minot.
