Albert Belcourt, 81, West Fargo, N.D. died on Sunday, July 26, 2009 at Innovis Health, Fargo, N.D.
Albert was born on November 16, 1927 at Westhope, N.D. to Eugene and Anna (Rousseau) Belcourt. He grew up on a farm near Westhope and attended school there. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Albert married Dorothy LaRocque on April 29, 1959 in Minot, N.D. They lived in Mohall, Bottineau and Minot, N.D. He was self employed as a mechanic in Mohall and while in Minot worked for Schulz Machinery which later became Butler Machinery. He transferred to Butler Machinery in Fargo in 1969 and worked there as a parts manager. They lived in Fargo two years before moving to West Fargo where they have resided since.
He loved doing carpentry and hunting. The weekly breakfast buddies, "The Old Timers" was also a source of enjoyment.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; six children, Donald of Kent, Wash., Dwane of Renton, Wash., Linda (Chuck) Langer of Harwood, N.D., Judy (Rick) Hall of Mockville, N.C., Jim of West Fargo and Mike (Pam) of Fargo; 18 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; a sister, Loretta Cartwright of Dallas, Texas; a brother, Alfred (Betty) of Enumclaw, Wash.; and his canine companion, Daisy Mae.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant sisters; and three brothers.
A visitation and prayer service were held on July 29, 2009, at the West Funeral Home, West Fargo.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2009, at 10 a.m. at the West Funeral Chapel, West Fargo with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.
