Alcohol sting finds most adults obey law
An undercover operation designed to identify adults who supply alcohol to minors in West Fargo caught many doing just the opposite, according to a news release from the Safe Communities Coalition of the Red River Valley.
On Thursday night, the West Fargo Police Department worked with underage volunteers who asked adults in the parking lot of Packers Package liquor store to buy alcohol for them.
Of 17 adults approached by minors, only one agreed to violate the law by buying alcohol for someone under 21.
Most of the others reported the encounter to employees at the liquor store and asked them to call police.
Some gave the message directly to the minors, including one who stated, "If you're here when I come back I'm calling the cops," the statement said.
