An Aurora Elementary School employee will be receiving a top honor this week.
Bonnie Misialek has been selected to receive the 2010 Caregiver of the Year award by the Metro Area Mayor's Committee for People with Disabilities.
Misialek has lived in West Fargo for many years and her children attended West Fargo schools. She has worked with special education students and staff as a paraprofessional for 14 years. Her career in the West Fargo School District has spanned several different schools, and she has been at Aurora Elementary since it opened in 2007. Misialek also works at Fraser LTD Group Home in Fargo.
"She is very deserving of this award," Aurora Principal Carol Zent said.
The Metro Area Mayors' Committee for People with Disabilities has a goal of advocating for full acceptance of people with disabilities by striving to eliminate environmental, attitudinal and employment barriers. The Caregiver of the Year Award is given to those individuals that have demonstrated professional integrity, quality of care, networking, being creative and innovative with a proactive approach to services.
Misialek will be honored during an awards luncheon on Thursday, at the Ramada Plaza Suites. To learn more about her award, or about the Metro Area Mayors' Committee, please visit www.fmareamayorscommittee.org.
