Troy is a 2002 graduate of West Fargo High School who has Pro long QT Syndrome, a serious hereditary heart disorder. In 2001, he had an ICD (internal cardiac defibrillator) inserted. Following the procedure, he experienced internal bleeding as a complication. In 2003, Troy had his second device inserted because the first one was faulty. He is now in need of a third ICD and is faced with overwhelming medical expenses which include a large upfront cost.

It goes without saying that time is of the essence for the procedure, which Troy is hoping to be able to schedule for early November. In order to do so he needs everyone's help. Consequently, the family is hoping for a strong show of support at the benefit, with all the proceeds going toward realizing Troy's procedure.

Ironically Troy's older sister, Sherri, also has the same disorder and had an ICD inserted on Oct. 7.

Sounding upbeat, Sherri said that her brother's illness hasn't stopped him from doing what he likes to do, following through on his motto to "live life to the fullest - one day at a time." Fulfilling this has involved Troy's employment in the construction field as well as enjoying hunting and fishing in any spare recreational time.

Troy, Sherri and their parents Frank Hebert of West Fargo and Mary Ann Hebert of Fargo will all be in attendance for the benefit, as will a host of other family members and friends.

The silent auction will be a huge part of the evening excitement, with a variety of items including gift cards to Scheels and West Acres, hair salons and a variety of restaurants, as well as NDSU Bison and Fargo Force tickets.

If you are unable to attend the benefit, but would still like to make a monetary donation, you can do so by sending your contribution to any Wells Fargo bank location, making checks payable to the "Troy Hebert Medical Benefit."
