Bill Wiedenmeyer, 80, Bismarck, N.D., died Tuesday, September 22, 2009, at Glencoe Regional Health Services in Glencoe, Minn.
Bill was born November 22, 1928, in Beulah, N.D., to Philip and Bertha (Link) Wiedenmeyer. He was raised and educated in the Mercer County area. Bill entered the U.S. Army in March of 1951, serving in the states and in Korea until his discharge in 1953. He was a member of the VFW Gilbert N. Nelson Post #1326, Bismarck, and Messiah Lutheran Church, Mandan. His hobbies included fishing and playing cards.
He is survived by four children, Sharon (Emmett) Wilson, West Fargo, Shirley Witt, Fargo, William (Bonnie) Wiedenmeyer, Virginia; and Karen Feist, Glencoe, Minn.; and four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Olga Mutzenberger and Hanna Vanourney; and one brother, Ervin.
Visitation was held Sunday, September 27, 2009, at Perry Funeral Home, Mandan, N.D., and prior to the church service.
A memorial service was held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, September 28, 2009, at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with Rev. Lester J. Wolfgram officiating. Burial was at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, N.D.
