Former Detroit Lakes resident Carneil L. Johnson, 50, of Hartville, Mo., died Saturday, May 2, 2009 as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident near her home.
Carneil LaRaye Priem was born to Jerry and Arlyss (Arneson) Priem on May 26, 1958. She grew up in the Frazee, Vergas and Detroit Lakes area. She attended school in Frazee and Detroit Lakes. Carneil married Danny Johnson and they resided in rural Detroit Lakes, where they raised their three children: Corey, Dustin and Bobbi Jo. She later moved to Missouri in 1995 and resided there until the time of her death.
Carneil enjoyed bowling and softball and had a deep love for animals, especially horses.
Surviving Carneil are her children, Corey (Kristina) Johnson of Coon Rapids, Minn., Dustin (Karla) Johnson of Brooklyn Center, Minn., and Bobbi Jo Johnson (Justin) of Fargo; two grandchildren; four brothers, Dean (Sharon) Priem of Lexington, Texas, Tim (Jolyn) Priem of Vergas, Dennis (Barb) Priem of Long Prairie, Minn., and David (Ranee) Priem of Hot Springs, S.D. Her parents preceded her in death.
A graveside service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, May 24 at the Vergas Cemetery.
