Caution still key in ongoing construction zone

For those of you traveling along West Fargo's Main Avenue some changes were announced Monday regarding the ongoing reconstruction that may be of interest.

According to North Dakota Department of Transportation officials, the current eastbound only one-way frontage road between 17th St. E. from 45th St. NW has been closed and motorists will access the businesses in this section of West Fargo by way of the newly constructed driving surface for this area of the project. As for traffic flow, it has shifted from the eastbound only one-way route to head-to-head traffic with one lane in each direction on a section of the new roadway.

The current south business frontage road between 17th St. E. to 45th St. NW. will be completely removed and will not be replaced. Instead each business will have a private business driveway for customers with each driveway accessible from the core flow of traffic on Main Ave. The West Fargo businesses along this stretch of roadway will be accessible and open to the public throughout this traffic shift and driveway construction.

This newly opened section of roadway is for business access and not a through street to the Main Ave. corridor or auxiliary streets. With this traffic shift, crews move the project into phase 1B from 17th St. E. to 45th St. NW.

As always for safety's sake, motorists should remember to slow down - the speed limit has been reduced to 25 mph - and be aware of workers and equipment in near proximity to traffic throughout the construction area.

Just a heads up to let you know that the water ban still continues in West Fargo. Usage is now up to 3.9 million gallons a day, so all residents are asked to continue to adhere to the odd-even watering plan that correlates to your home number. Also remember not to water between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
