The instructors have been teaching their students about service learning this spring in their classrooms, with emphasis on learning more about the English Language Learner population at both Cheney Middle School and in the community as well.

Toward that goal, the classes have partnered with the West Fargo Historical Center in conducting oral history interviews with the end result a new and exciting digital oral history collection, including the student interviews of 24 individuals including: principals, counselors, school administrators, dietary staff, ELL teachers, New American students, New American parents and New American interpreters.

The program Friday will consist of a mini-documentary presentation, along with photographs highlighting the experience, showcasing the benefits of service-learning. Included will be a video of the entire process, the different interviews that were conducted, the learning experiences, as well as a New American parent speaking about her experience.

The session is open to the public. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.

For those of you unable to attend, the interviews will be available on both the Cheney Middle School's website at http://www.west-fargo.k12.nd.us and in the West Fargo Library digital database.

Cheney Middle School is located at 825 17th Ave. E., West Fargo.
