Clarence R. Weispfenning, 88, Moorhead, Minn. formerly West Fargo, died on Friday, April 9, 2010 in Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead.
Mr. Weispfenning was born on Oct. 17, 1921 in rural Logan Co., N.D. He grew up on the family farm in Logan Co. and attended rural school. Clarence later spent two years in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) at Sidney, Mont. After his time in the CCC, he returned to the family farm. Clarence married Ella Fuchs on June 13, 1948 at Fredonia, N.D. They moved to Jamestown, N.D. and he worked for Nash Finch, Foremost Creamery and Schubert's Paint and Glass all of Jamestown. In 1966, they moved to West Fargo, Clarence worked for Fairmont Creamery of Moorhead, he later worked for Lindgren Hardware of West Fargo. In 1972, he purchased Clarence's Paint and Glass of West Fargo, selling the business in 1982. Ella passed away on April 25, 2000. After his retirement, he worked part-time for Ostrom's Ace Hardware in West Fargo, until 2006.
Clarence was preceded in death by his wife, parents, Otto and Matilda (Rath), an infant son, and brothers, Milton, Roland and Howard.
He is survived by a son, Douglas (Mary), Lake Park, Minn.: daughter, Susie (Allen) Pederson, Casselton, N.D.; six grandchildren, Debra (Bill) Cain, Goodyear, Ariz., Linda (Tom) Moe, New Port Richie, Fla., Kelly (Martin) Bertens, Moorhead, Tanya (Jason) Schatzke, Wheatland, N.D., Brady (Rachael) Pederson, Laney (Mark) Mousseau, all of Glyndon, Minn.; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Norman (Jill), Clinton, Iowa, Roger, Colorado Springs, Colo.; sisters, Lori Harrington, Federal Way, Wash., Viola Sietz and Lillian Sandheim, both Jamestown, N.D., Hildie Johnson, Lewistown, Mont., Darlene Tompt, Rocklin, Calif., and Anna Olson, Plant City, Fla.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 15, 2010 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. in West Funeral Home, West Fargo, and one hour before the service.
A memorial service will be held Friday, April 16, 2010 at 11 a.m. in West Funeral Home, West Fargo. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, N.D.
