Cross-country teams combine for 47 points

The Packers cross-country team braved the elements on Wednesday to earn a combined score (between the boys' and girls' teams) of 47.

The teams went head-to-head with Jamestown, Wahpeton and Fargo Shanley in a shorter race, where the boys' teams ran a 4k and the girls ran a 3k.

The girls had a fantastic run. Jen Dufner led all comers with a time of 11:39. Suzy Dullum, Brooke Grooters, Christine Baltezore and Alexis Young finished third through sixth, respectively, resulting in a score of 19 for the girls.

The boys' team was on the same track. Darin Baltezore finished third with a 4k time of 13:31. Austin Albrecht was right behind him, finishing fourth with a time 13:51.

Parker Rosenau, Kody Koles and Tony Schulz finished sixth, seventh and eighth - within 16 seconds of each other - to bring the boys' score to 28.

The boys' team is currently ranked fourth in the state, while the girls' team is ranked fifth.

The team heads to Dickinson on Saturday for the State Championship meet.
