Derby Girls open season Saturday

The Fargo Moorhead roller derby team will be officially kicking off its third season Saturday.

The FM Derby Girls Furies will be going against the Sioux Falls, S.D., Killa Beez beginning at 7 p.m. at the Fargo Civic Center, 207 4th Street N, in downtown Fargo.

The main event will take place immediately following the opening bout, as FMDG Northern Pains takes on the Sioux Falls Roller Dollz.

This is FMDG's first bout towards their Women'ss Flat Track Derby Association membership. Once accepted into the sports governing league, these skaters can become nationally ranked, take place in regional and national tournaments, and vote on issues that affect Flat Track Roller Derby.

The Derby Girls' featured charity for this bout is the N.D. Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

During the bout, a booth to win WE Fest tickets will be set up near the entrance of the Civic Center. Attendees can register to win two free tickets.

Tickets for Saturday's bout are $12 for adults, $7 for children 6-12 years old, and those 5 years and younger get in free.
