Dewey benefit packs them in

A benefit for Mahnomen County sheriff's deputy Chris Dewey packed the West Fargo VFW building Monday evening as people attended the spaghetti dinner and silent auction. Dewey was shot Feb. 18, while on duty. The event was a record setter for the VFW for their spaghetti night with over 760 people enjoying the meal. Many others also attended the event but didn't eat, participating in the silent auction and making a donation to the excellent cause. West Fargo Police Officer Rhonda Jorgensen, who coordinated the benefit, described the turnout as "wonderful. Not only was law enforcement well represented but our community really pulled together for the Dewey family, which is incredible." She said final fundraising tallies are not yet in.
