District 13-Democrats endorse Loegering, Tintes, Halverson

The District 13 Dem-NPL Party endorsed three longtime West Fargo citizens as candidates for the North Dakota legislature Saturday, March 27 - Sylvan Loegering for the District 13 Senate seat, and Mary Tintes and Michael Halverson for the North Dakota House of Representatives. Their names will be on the ballot for the statewide election November 2, 2010.

Loegering earned degrees in education at Ellendale and UND and following six years of teaching math and science, built a career in sales management and in business ownership. He continues to work in sales, but is semi-retired.

His wife, Margaret, has worked in the West Fargo Public Schools since 1978, where five of their children graduated. Along with two of his sons, he drove stock cars at the RRV Speedway in the 1980s. The Loegering family was declared West Fargo Catholic Family of the Year in 1988.

Most recently, Loegering has been a strong advocate for changes in workers compensation laws; and sees his candidacy as a means to be a more effective advocate for the working people of North Dakota.

Tintes grew up on a small family farm near Amenia and attended school in

Amenia, Casselton and later NDSU. Tintes was co-owner of a truck equipment business in West Fargo and has worked in the non-profit sector. She is a licensed realtor and a communications consultant.

Tintes has extensive community volunteer experience in the League of Women Voters, chair of the Multiple Sclerosis Society's Government Relations Committee and United Blood Services of Fargo. She has served as an advocate for seniors, women and the disabled. She has two grown children and four step-children and enjoys seeing her husband, Tony, act in the "Harwood Players" at Bonanzaville. Tintes said, "I am excited to be running for the House to help working families create opportunities for their children to succeed right here at home."

Halverson has lived in West Fargo all his life. His father, Ron Halverson taught science at the High School and his mother, Carol, is office manager of the Speech Language Hearing Science Clinic at Moorhead State University of Minnesota. He was a Cub Scout (Pack 234), Boy Scout (Troop 213), and active in the St. Andrew Lutheran Church youth group.

Halverson graduated from West Fargo High School in 1999 and went on to receive his bachelor of science at MSUM in communications. He is employed by Navteq of Fargo. He enjoys deer and pheasant hunting, is an avid baseball fan and plays in a West Fargo softball league. Halverson's wife, Amber, is a nurse who shares his enjoyment of traveling and cooking.
