The West Fargo Education Association (WFEA) and the Fargo Education Association (FEA), local affiliates of the North Dakota Education Association, joined together to promote their professional image in the community as educators and increase the awareness of early reading and reading readiness with activities planned during Read Across America Week from March 1-5.

The purpose of the activity was to educate the community on the importance of reading at a young age through the media, involving the community in this goal by including Sanford Health System and Essentia Health and presenting "Books for Babies" to the hospitals for parents of newborns.

Consequently, a total of 150 books were given on March 2, the birthday of Dr. Suess, the author whose books epitomize reading fun.

Kim Belgarde, Fargo Education Association President, and Joan Connor, West Fargo Education Association President, were recent presenters of the books for babies to staff members from Sanford Health and Essentia Health. This project has been an ongoing one for the past few years in observance of Read Across America Week.
