Elizabeth Swartz, 64, West Fargo, died Friday, July 8, 2011 at Sanford Health Palliative Care, Fargo, N.D.
Elizabeth A. Eckstein was born April 24, 1947 in Kerrville, Texas to Clarence and Yvonne (Olson) Eckstein. The family moved and followed Clarence in his work as a pipefitter. They lived in Fargo, Williston, Devils Lake and Grafton, N.D. She attended school is those communities. Elizabeth "Liz" married Frank Swartz Jr. June 12, 1965 at Grafton. They lived in International Falls, Minn., until 1985 when they moved to West Fargo. She worked as a cook at Rosewood On Broadway for over 20 years until recently retiring due to her health.
Liz was a quiet person that enjoyed being a homebody of sorts. She enjoyed Bingo and was a collector of many things often buying and selling as the spirit moved her.
She is survived by three daughters, Lori Bacon of Hibbing, Minn., Susan Swartz and Becky Swartz, both of West Fargo; three grandchildren, Dana Bacon, Matthew Swartz and Brandon Bacon; two brothers, John (Joyce) Eckstein of Oklahoma City, Okla. and James (Abby) Eckstein of Spring, Texas; a sister, Linda Eckstein of Kingsland, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
Liz was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Frank in 2001.
The Memorial Service was held Tuesday, July 12, at 2 p.m., at West Funeral Home Chapel, West Fargo with visitation one hour prior and a reception to follow.
Final resting place will be Western Bohemian Kosobud Cemetery, Lincoln, N.D.
