The Fifth Annual Witty Open golf tournament is set for June 4, at the Maple River Golf Club in Mapleton, N.D., with a shotgun start at noon.

Proceeds from the tournament will help fund scholarships in honor of the late Jason Witt, a former high school athlete and West Fargo graduate (Class of 1992). Witt was the victim of an ATV accident in 2006, and left behind a wife and two sons.

This year's Jason Witt $500 scholarship winners are West Fargo's Spencer Uetz and Levi Bachmeier. To date, the Witty Open golf tournament has awarded more than $2,000 in scholarships.

The Witty Open is a four-man scramble limited to 36 teams. The cost is $280 per team, or $70 per person. If you do not have a team, sign up and a spot will be found for you. There will be a dinner and awards after the tournament.

For more information, call the Maple River Golf Course at 701-282-5415. Payment can be sent to: ATTN: Witty Open, P.O. Box 662, West Fargo, ND 58708.
